West Michigan King Salmon River Fishing

9/25/11  King Salmon Fishing around West Michigan has been on fire the past few weeks.  The Pere Marquette, White, and Muskgeon Rivers have all been fishing well, the Grand River has had a decent run of Coho, Kings, and a few Steelhead.  We have tied into some real monsters lately, I have had a lot of clients lately complaining of sore arms from battling some of these brute Kings.  We have been hooking lots of fish most days and landing a lot of fish most days.  Today was a little slower with the rain that fell, it seemed to have had the fish wanting to move more than anything.  We have been catching all of our fish on Crankbaits and while fishing Bobbers and Skein.  Fihing should continue to be good for Kings for the next few weeks and then we will start fishing Steelhead for the most part but still offering King Salmon Fishing Trips.  Call Now to get in on the action!

King Salmon Fishing

9/18/11 King Salmon fishing has been great for us at Getting Bit Guide Service, a few Coho have shown up as well.  The past few days we have been getting a ridiculous amount of bites.  We have been landing 10 to 20 fish on most of our outings and losing a lot more to logs and thrown hooks.  Crankbaits and bobbers and bait has been doing it for us.  Below is a sampling of the fish that we have been catching.

10/15/11 Fishing for King Salmon has been great lately.  I will try to get some pictures up when I have more time.

King Salmon Fishing

9/11/11 Sorry for the lapse in reports, I have been having difficulties figuring out the new website with my limited time off from fishing.  Fishing has been tough to great depending on day and where you are fishing.  Yesterday we had action all day long fishing crankbaits and bait but earlier in the week it was tough and we had to work for our fish.  With the recent lake turnover most of the rivers and harbors are seeing some new pushes of fish now.  The Muskegon has been slow but the jiggers near the sand docks have been getting them good.  The Grand has had a push of Coho and a few Kings.  The PM is fishing well with a good number of fish up higher in the system.  The Manistee was tough earlier in the week but it sounded like the pier guys were catching a few more fish now so that means some should be heading in.  The Betsie has had a ton of fish but getting away from the crowds has been key to getting biters.  Below are some pictures from the past few days.

Pere Marquette and Big Manistee River King Salmon Fishing

9/2/11 Fishing on the Pere Marquette and Big Manistee Rivers is good.  There are some areas void of fish but the mid to upper stretches have been loading up for the past couple of weeks.  The lower rivers have been hit or miss for good numbers, we should see another good push of fish as soon as the lake turns over again.  We have been catching our fish lately on Thundersticks, Berkeley Fire Stick Minnows, Rapala shallow and deep Husky Jerks, and Skein under floats.  We have put a number of fish into the boat over the 20lb mark this year, it is a good year for a chance at a 30 lb fish.  Below are a few of the fish that we put into the boat over the past couple of days.

Pere Marquette River Fishing

August 24 2011

I have been out on the river a couple of days this past week and the fishing has been decent for King Salmon.  We have been hooking into a good number of fish but landing them is another story.  We have been hooking our fish on crankbaits and float fishing bait.  The rain that we had the other night really had the fish pushing upstream on the 24th, the fish that we seen were moving through pretty fast.  Call now to book your September and October King Salmon Fishing Trips!

Big King Salmon Aug/17/11

Big King Salmon are showing up on the shore lines of Lake Michigan.  We put 5 fish into the boat yesterday that weighed over 20 lbs.  The King Salmon, Steelhead, and Coho Salmon are well above the average size that we have seen over the past 8 to 10 years.  There are a few rivers up north that recieved small pushes of fish, finding a few a day if you work at it is about the norm right now.  Below are a couple of nice ones that we boated on yesterdays charters.

King Salmon Fishing August 15 2011

We are catching good numbers of King Salmon and Coho on Lake Michigan out of Muskegon.  It has been a good mix of big 4 year old Kings, nice sized Coho, immature Kings, Steelhead, and Lake Trout.  Fishing has been good anywhere from 40 foot of water to out past 200 foot of water.
