Muskegon River and Grand River Steelhead Fishing Guided Fishing

Steelhead fishing has been good for us so far this year, we are catching a mix of fish that have been around for awhile and silver fish that have just shown up.  We have been float fishing mostly but have been taking fish with other methods as well.  If you are looking to get out this Winter or Spring give me a call ASAP as my Spring dates are starting to fill in.  I still have a fair number of days available but the calls are starting to increase.  If you want to get out and try some centerpin fishing that has been the way of choice lately, I have centerpin rods and reels from Raven Tackle for your use.  Winter is a great time to get out and get into a bunch of fish with barely anyone on the water so if you have cabin fever and want to get out give me a call.  Here are a few pictures from the past few outings.

West Michigan Steelhead Fishing

Winter Steelhead fishing is finally here!  The water temps have dropped and the fish are sitting in their normal Winter holding spots.  We should have some good Steelhead fishing here in West Michigan until we get our Spring run of fish.  The Muskegon river has been where I have mainly fished lately but we have had some decent days on the Grand River as well.  I would imagine the Grand should be icing up and running slush with the colder days we are having but the Muskegon will stay ice free.  I had heard some good reports from the Kalamazoo river before this cold weather hit so there should be good numbers in there as long as there is fish able water.  The Pere Marquette river received a good shot of fish as well and it should fish well for the rest of the winter as long as it does not freeze up.

Give me a call if you want to get out and beat the cabin fever that usually sets in during January and February, this is a great time to be out enjoying the great scenery and top notch fishing that Michigan has to offer.

Spring will be here before you know it so if you plan on booking a Spring Steelhead fishing trip let me know ASAP before my dates fill in.  Unless we have a really harsh end to our Winter I would expect our Spring run to show up a little earlier than it has over the past 2 years.  Book your Spring Run Steelhead Fishing Trip today!  616-570-2946

Muskegon River and Grand River Steelhead Fishing Guide Trip Reports

We have had some good Steelhead action while fishing on the Muskegon River and Grand River with a few nice brown trout mixed in.  The Muskegon river seems to have good numbers of steelhead from Croton Dam down to he lake with most of the fish in the upper reaches.  The Grand River has been good for us but the numbers overall in the river seem to be down so far this year.  With the warmer than average weather the fish are just shooting through the lower river and most have either stalled around Grand Rapids or have shot over the 6th street dam to the upper sections of the river.  I have heard good reports for the Kalamazoo river with more than average numbers for that river.  The Pere Marquette river has been fishing pretty good as well for steelhead and resident trout.

If you are looking to get out over the Winter on a guided steelhead fishing trip we should have some good steelhead action for the next couple of months.  Spring will be here before you know it as well so book your Spring Steelhead fishing trips now.

I hope that everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Below is a sample of some of the fish we have been catching.

Muskegon River and Grand River Steelhead Fishing Report

Steelhead Fishing continues to be amazing for us on the Muskegon River and Grand River.  This warm weather we have been having has had good numbers of fish entering the rivers and the fish have been super charged jumping around and taking long line burning runs.  We are set up to have some great fishing throughout the winter on the Muskegon River.  We have been taking fish while float fishing, back bouncing, and plug fishing.  With the higher water last week I had a day where we shot up into Grand Rapids to the 6th street dam and fished and that was some fast and furious action.  The Muskegon River from the dam down to the lake has been fishing good.

If you are looking for a gift idea for someone that likes to fish or likes to be outdoors I have gift certificates.  They can be used anytime throughout the year for my river trips,  Steelhead, Salmon, Smallmouth, etc., they are a great Christmas gift.  I still have a good number of January, February, March, and April dates open so help me fill them up and we can go and beat up on some fish.

Grand River and Muskegon River Steelhead Fishing Guided Trip Reports

Steelhead fishing has been good for us on the Muskegon and Grand Rivers.  We have been catching good numbers on my guide trips everyday.  Although the numbers that are in the rivers have been down a little bit we have still been having great days on the water.  I hear that the Kalmazoo has had a great run so far this year, the PM and Big Manistee I hear have been decent but still a few less fish than normal.  We are expecting rain tonight, tomorrow, and on Friday so that will hopefully bring another batch of fish up the rivers.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Muskegon River and Grand River Steelhead Fishing Guide Trips

Steelhead fishing on the Grand River and Muskegon River has been good for us on our guide trips, we are catching good numbers on a daily basis.  We are mainly catching steelhead but the odd lake run brown trout has been gracing us as well.  I still have some dates open for this Fall/Winter so give me a call if you are looking to get out on a guided steelhead fishing trip.  We should have some good steelhead fishing throughout the winter into the spring so if you are going to be in Grand Rapids or around the area book a trip this winter.

Here are a few pictures from this past week.

Grand River and Muskegon River Steelhead Fishing

The Steelhead fishing has been good for us on the Grand River and Muskegon River the past few weeks.  There are still some King Salmon in the Muskegon River but the numbers are dropping fast.  The rain we just received over night should bring in some more fish and the cooler weather should help as well.  We will have some great fishing ahead of us so give me a call to book a fall/winter steelhead fishing guide trip.

If you want to get out next summer for some Atlantic Salmon fishing get a hold of me and we can talk over some dates and specifics.  While fishing Atlantic Salmon we usually catch Whitefish, Herring, and occasionally Steelhead and Walleye.  Dates are very limited so let me know ASAP.

If you are looking to book a King Salmon or Coho Salmon trip for next fall I am taking dates now as well.

Below are some happy clients and some great fish.

Muskegon River and Grand River Steelhead, King Salmon, and Coho Salmon report

We have been catching a variety of fish over the past couple of weeks, we have boated King Salmon, Coho Salmon, Steelhead, Lake Run Brown Trout, Walleye, Smallmouth, and a few Pike.  A few Steelhead are starting to show up in the Grand River, Muskegon River, and the rest of the west Michigan rivers despite the low and clear water.  The Muskegon River still has a lot of King Salmon around, most are on gravel but there are some in the darker as well.  Most of the King Salmon are spread from Croton Dam down to New Bridge on the Muskegon.  We had been picking on some Coho on the Grand over the past couple of weeks and there are still some to be had.  The Rogue still has a fair amount of Coho as well from the sounds of it.  6th Street dam in Grand Rapids has been hit or miss from the sounds of it, if we get some good rain to bump the water levels up that should turn on good.  They have been catching a mix of Kings, Coho Salmon, Steelhead, and a few Lake Run Browns as well down at 6th street dam.

I still have a few dates left in November and a fair number of dates in December if you are looking to get out.  We should have 6 months of some good Steelhead fishing so get a hold of me ASAP for your Fall, Winter, or Spring Steelhead fishing dates.

King Salmon and Steelhead fishing on the Muskegon River, Grand River, Pere Marquette River

King Salmon fishing has been good one day and tough the next on the Muskegon River and Pere Marquette River.  We have been fishing thundersticks and float fishing skein under bobbers.  We are still seeing some dime bright hen Kings coming in and will probably have them trickling in for awhile yet.  The Grand River has been putting out some Coho Salmon, a few Steelhead, Brown Trout, and a King here and there.  We have some cooler weather and hopefully some rain coming later in the week and that should trigger a few more Steelhead to head into the rivers.  If you are looking to get out for some Steelhead or King Salmon fishing this fall or winter on the Grand River, Muskegon River, or Pere Marquette River get a hold of me.  I still have some days left this Fall and Winter for some great Steelhead fishing.

If you have been wanting to get out for some Atlantic Salmon fishing get with me as I will be doing trips next summer for those.  We had some great action this year for Atlantic Salmon and should have some great fishing again next year.  Whitefish, Steelhead, and Walleye are also around and caught while pursuing the Atlantics.  These fish are insane on light tackle!

Pere Marquette River and Big Manistee River King Salmon Fishing

King Salmon fishing has gotten off to a decent start this year.  We had a couple of good pushes of fish on the Pere Marquette and Big Manistee River and they have been fun to pick on.  It has been good for a couple days here and there and tougher fishing in between.  Being the start of the second week of September we will see a good push of fish as soon as this weather cools back down. We have been catching fish on crankbaits, plugs, and skein.  Over the next week or two we should see more fish entering the Muskegon, White, and Grand Rivers.  We should have King Salmon around through October and I still have some good dates strung throughout October for King Salmon and Steelhead.  I also have some November and December dates as well that should be killer for Steelhead on the Grand River, Muskegon River, and Pere Marquette River.

I am also planning on staying up and doing Atlantic Salmon trips next July/August for anyone that is interested.  Let me know asap if you are interested as I will have a limited amount of dates available.

Below are a few of the Kings we boated over the past few days.
