Michigan King Salmon River Fishing! Lake Michigan Salmon Fishing is Good!

We are getting close to starting up our river trips for King Salmon on the Pere Marquette River and Big Manistee River.  There are already a few Salmon that have moved in to the northern rivers but they are here one day and gone the next.  I still have a few days open the last week of August and the first week of September as well as a few other dates here and there in September and October.  I am also starting to book up my Steelhead fishing trips starting in Mid October so if you have a date in mind try to get a hold of me sooner than later.

Fish are big this year and we anticipate some King Salmon over 30lbs to see our net this fall as well as some larger than average Steelhead.

Fishing out on Lake Michigan has been pretty good for the most part.  Some days have been better than others for numbers of fish but we seem to catch fish around or over 20 lbs each trip.

Muskegon King Salmon Fishing

There have been some huge King Salmon being caught on Lake Michigan over the past few weeks.  We are definately going to have our hands full when they hit the rivers!  Over the past week we have boated King Salmon over 20lbs everyday with the largest of the week going 26.55 lbs, another King that weighed in over 29 lbs was caught out of Muskegon yesterday.  There have been some fish entering some of the rivers over the past couple of weeks, not in huge numbers but I have had some buddies finding a few here and there, I have not had much time away from our Lake Michigan charters so I have not had a chance to get into any myself.  If anyone is  looking to get out on the rivers for King Salmon I still have a few dates that last week of August and the first week of September, and a few scattered throughout September and October that are open yet.  I have a feeling that we will be putting some fish over 30lbs in the boat this fall.  Give me a call if you are looking to get out on the Manistee, Pere Marquette, Muskegon, and other rivers this fall for King Salmon.  Below are a few pictures from the past few days.

King Salmon Fishing out of Muskegon is good.

The Big Kings have shown up out of Muskegon in good numbers.  There are also a few fish starting to enter some of the rivers up north such as the Pere Marquette River, the Big Manistee River, the Little Manistee River, and Betsie River.  We will start up our river fishing guide trips on the Pere Marquette, Big Manistee, Muskegon, and other area rivers toward the end of August and if you want to get out give me a call asap as a lot of dates are already filled in.  I will be offering morning and afternoon thunderstick and bait fishing trips again this year so if you do not want to get up early then we can set you up for an afternoon trip.  The Smallmouth bass fishing on the Muskegon River and Grand River has been good and there are some Skamania being caught as well.

The King Salmon are running bigger than they have in over a decade so give me a call and get in on some trophy sized King Salmon Fishing this Summer and Fall on Lake Michigan and or the rivers we guide on.

Lake Michigan King Salmon and River Smallmouth Bass Fishing

Fishing for King Salmon out of the port of Muskegon has picked up nicely for us.  We have been catching some good sized King Salmon, Coho Salmon, Steelhead, and Lake Trout.  Fishing should remain good throughout the summer now.

Smallmouth Bass fishing has been good as well on area rivers such as the Grand River, Muskegon River, and Flat River.

If you want to book a guided trip or lake Michigan Charter give me a call and we can set something up.

Lake Michigan Salmon Fishing

Fishing for King Salmon has been tough lately on Lake Michigan out of most of the Central West Michigan ports.  The fishing should pick up with the warmer weather forecasted.  We have still been picking at a few Salm0n, Steelhead, and Lake Trout but are really looking forward to the lake setting up and some better fishing ahead.

There has been some great Bass fishing and some Skamania Steelhead action happening on our rivers and piers.

King Salmon River Fishing is not too far off, they should start entering some of the rivers in about another month and a half in decent numbers.  There have been some early runners over the past month in the Little Manistee River.  If you want to get out this Summer or Fall for Kings, Steelhead, Bass, etc. give me a call ASAP as my dates are filling up.

Muskegon King Salmon

King Salmon Fishing has been good on Lake Michigan out of Muskegon Michigan.  The King Salmon are still running good sized with some smaller 1 and 2 year olds mixed in, most of our big Kings have been coming on paddles and flies down 70 to 130 in the water column on our riggers and wire divers, 300,400, and 450 coppers with magnum spoons have been taking their share as well.  Our higher lines have been picking up a few Steelhead, smaller Kings, and Coho Salmon with the small Michigan Stinger spoons doing most of the damage.

Our Pere Marquette River and Big Manistee River King Salmon Crankbait and Skein Fishing trips start up in just over 2 months.  I am looking forward to seeing some big King Salmon again this year on the river.  By the looks of things on the lake the Kings should be a couple pounds heavier on average over last years fish.  Give me a call if you are looking to get out and enjoy some of the most exciting fresh water fishing available.

King Salmon Fishing

Salmon Fishing on Lake Michigan has been good so far this Spring.  We are catching some good sized King Salmon and lots of Coho Salmon.  The Kings are running large so far this year and we anticipate having another great year with some big fish like we seen in 2011.  If you are looking to get out on Lake Michigan let me know and I can give you the rates and open dates.

The Grand River has been fishing good for Catfish, Smallmouth Bass, and we have even seen a few Sturgeon including one that we hooked up on and lost after a long battle.  The Muskegon River still has a few Steelhead running around and the Trout fishing has been great.  The Trout fishing has also been good on some local Trout Streams with some real pig Brown Trout looking to feed.

I would like to thank all of you that joined me on a Spring Steelhead Trip, it was a pleasure fishing with everyone of you.  If you are looking to join me on a fall River Salmon Fishing Trip let me know sooner than later as the calender is starting to fill in.  I will be offering morning and afternoon trips again this year.  My Salmon Fishing trips usually start around late August or early September depending on the fishing and go well into October when we then switch gears over to our fantastic fall Steelhead Fishing.

Below are a few pictures from the past couple of weeks.

Muskegon River Steelhead Fishing

Steelhead fishing has been good lately on the Muskegon River.  There has been a mix of fresh tight fish, spawners, and dropbacks, fishing should remain good for a couple more weeks.  We have mainly been float fishing with eggs with some back bouncing mixed in.  I plan to so some stickbait fishing for dropback Steelhead over the next couple of weeks, this is a fun way to catch these super aggresive fish.  There are a lot of fish spawning right now and there have been a lot of people fishing the beds with fly rigs if that is your thing.  The water has come down a good amount from the flooding that we had, it is still holding a decent stain to the water.  Trout and Walleye opened back up and there are some great opportunites for them right now, Smallmouth Bass and Catfish will biting good soon so give us a call if you are interested in doing some fishing for them.  We will be back on Lake Michigan starting that second week of May and the great Spring King Salmon Fishing should kick off soon after.  Give us a call if you are interested in any of the great state of Michigans fishing opportunities.

West Michigan Spring Steelhead Fishing

Steelhead fishing has been good for us lately.  The boat traffic was not bad until today, the warmer weather brought out the crowds.  We are still seeing more semi dark fish than chromers.  I still have some great dates open in April and the beginning of May so give me a call to get out this Spring for some Chrome.
